Thanksgiving is more than just a holiday—it’s an emotional touchpoint that inspires warmth, gratitude, and connection. For marketers, it’s also a unique opportunity to strengthen relationships with customers by tapping into these emotions in authentic and memorable ways. While words can communicate gratitude, visuals often make a deeper impact, and stock photos can be a powerful tool in conveying the essence of Thanksgiving.

When used strategically, stock photography can bring your campaigns to life, making them more relatable, more visually appealing, and more likely to inspire action.

Why Thanksgiving Imagery Matters

Thanksgiving evokes a wide range of feelings—family togetherness, the comfort of traditions, and the joy of giving. In marketing, these emotions are essential because they help brands foster a personal connection with their audience. While a clever headline might grab attention, it’s often the image that lingers in a customer’s mind.

The right Thanksgiving imagery can:

Create instant recognition of the seasonal theme.

Trigger positive memories and emotional responses.

Reinforce your brand’s message of appreciation.

Encourage sharing on social media, expanding your reach.

By integrating stock photos that align with your brand’s voice and values, you can amplify the emotional resonance of your message.

Choosing the Right Stock Photos for Thanksgiving

The key to effective Thanksgiving visuals is authenticity. Gone are the days when overly staged, cliché stock images dominated holiday campaigns. Today’s best stock photos are high-quality, genuine, and diverse.
Here are some elements to look for:

Natural lighting: Photos with soft, natural light feel warm and inviting.

Realistic settings: Kitchens, dining tables, and living rooms that look lived-in create relatability.

Genuine expressions: Laughter, shared glances, and casual moments often feel more believable than perfectly posed scenes.

Inclusive representation: Show diverse families and friend groups to make all audiences feel included.

For example, a small business sending a Thanksgiving email to loyal customers might use an image of a table set for a cozy dinner, with mismatched plates, half-empty glasses, and a turkey in the center—a scene that feels real and approachable.

Storytelling Through Imagery

Thanksgiving campaigns are most effective when they tell a story. Stock photos can be more than just decorative—they can be part of a visual narrative that supports your marketing goals.

Think about your brand’s Thanksgiving message. Is it about gratitude toward customers? Community involvement? Seasonal promotions? Once you identify the message, choose images that reflect each part of that story.

A bakery, for example, could create a series of social media posts showing stock images of fresh bread cooling on a counter, a baker delivering pies to smiling customers, and a family enjoying dessert together. Each image advances the narrative from creation to sharing to celebration.

Matching Photos to the Platform

Not every image works equally well on every channel. Email campaigns, social media, and website banners have different requirements for image size, composition, and focal points.

Email headers: Use wide, landscape-oriented images with clear focal points.

Instagram posts: Square or vertical images that are visually striking in a small feed.

Website banners: Images with negative space for overlaying text or calls-to-action.

Pinterest boards: Vertical images that tell a seasonal story and inspire sharing.

Stock photo libraries typically offer multiple aspect ratios and resolutions, so you can adapt a single image across various platforms for a cohesive campaign.

Using Color to Set the Tone

Thanksgiving color palettes typically revolve around warm hues—deep oranges, golden yellows, rich browns, and earthy greens. These colors evoke the feeling of fall and complement the holiday’s cozy, comforting vibe.

When browsing stock photos, consider how the color scheme fits with your brand identity. If your branding is minimalist and modern, you might choose Thanksgiving imagery with more muted tones and clean compositions. If your brand leans rustic or nostalgic, look for images with rich saturation and lots of texture.

Avoiding the Overdone

While pumpkins, turkeys, and cornucopias are staples of Thanksgiving imagery, relying exclusively on these can make your campaign feel predictable. Instead, think about less obvious ways to convey the season:

Close-up shots of hands passing a dish.

Candles flickering on a dining table.

A child drawing a “thank you” card.

A pile of autumn leaves outside a home.

These subtle, human-centric moments often resonate more than a generic holiday symbol.

Combining Stock Photos with Custom Content

One way to make stock photos feel more integrated into your brand is to combine them with your own custom visuals. For example:

Overlay your brand colors or patterns onto an image.

Add a heartfelt message of thanks in your brand’s font.

Pair a stock photo with a candid shot from your own team.

This blend of professional quality and personal touch can make your campaign feel polished yet authentic.

Testing Visual Impact

As with any marketing element, it’s worth testing how your chosen stock photos perform. A/B test different images in your Thanksgiving emails to see which generates more opens, clicks, or conversions. You might discover that your audience prefers images with people over product shots—or that bright, airy visuals outperform darker, moodier ones.

This data can guide your choices for future seasonal campaigns, ensuring your visuals continually align with your audience’s preferences.

Bringing Gratitude to Life

At its core, Thanksgiving marketing is about showing appreciation. Whether you’re thanking customers for their loyalty, your team for their hard work, or your community for its support, stock photos can help visualize that gratitude in a way words alone can’t.

A heartfelt message paired with the right image can make your audience feel seen, valued, and connected to your brand. That emotional connection is what turns seasonal marketing into lasting loyalty.

Final Thoughts

Thanksgiving is an ideal time to reflect gratitude through every touchpoint of your marketing. By thoughtfully selecting stock photos that feel authentic, inclusive, and emotionally resonant, you can create campaigns that stand out and truly connect with your audience.

In a crowded holiday season, visuals can be the deciding factor in whether your message gets noticed—or ignored. With the right images, your Thanksgiving campaigns can embody the warmth, generosity, and joy that the holiday represents.

What additional thoughts would you add?

Web design and branding are important for your business for many reasons. First, your website is often the first impression that potential customers will have of your company. If your site is poorly designed, potential customers may be turned off before they even have a chance to learn more about your business.

Second, your website and branding can help you to stand out from the competition. In a crowded marketplace, a professionally designed website and strong branding can make all the difference in attracting and retaining customers. Finally, an effective web presence can help to build trust and credibility with potential and existing customers. In today’s digital world, consumers are increasingly looking online for information about businesses before they make a purchase. By investing in professional web design and branding, you can ensure that your business is putting its best foot forward.

What are web design and branding?

Web design refers to the process of creating a website. This includes the layout, content, and overall look of the site. Branding, on the other hand, is the use of a specific name, logo, or another identifier to create an association with a product or company. It’s important to note that web design and branding are not the same things. While branding can be a part of web design, it’s not the only element. A well-designed website should be easy to navigate and contain relevant, engaging content. Additionally, it should reflect the overall brand of the company or organization. By incorporating these elements, a website can effectively communicate its message and achieve its objectives.

How do web design and branding help a business?

A well-designed website and strong branding can be extremely helpful for any business. A good web design can make a website more user-friendly and easy to navigate, helping potential customers find the information they need. Good web design can also help to build trust and credibility, making it more likely that customers will do business with a company. Strong branding can also create a more favorable impression of a company, making it more likely that customers will remember the company and its products or services. Ultimately, both web design and branding can play an important role in helping a business to attract and retain customers.

Importance of a professionally designed website

A website is often the first point of contact between a business and its potential customers. In today’s competitive marketplace, it is essential that a website makes a good first impression. A professionally designed website can help to create an image of a well-established, successful business. It can also help to instill confidence in potential customers, encouraging them to do business with the company. In addition, a professionally designed website can be an important tool for marketing and branding. By highlighting a company’s products and services, a well-designed website can attract new customers and help to grow a business. In today’s digital world, a professionally designed website is essential for any business that wants to succeed.

Different aspects of web design that should be considered

Different aspects of web design that should be considered include layout, color scheme, typography, and imagery. The layout of a website should be easy to navigate and use, with a clear hierarchy of information. The color scheme should be consistent and complementary, and the typography should be easy to read. Imagery should be used sparingly and should be relevant to the content of the website. By considering these different aspects of web design, you can create a website that is both visually appealing and user-friendly.

Tips for creating an effective brand strategy

Creating a strong brand is essential for any business, big or small. A brand is more than just a logo or name – it’s the whole package, including the values, mission, and message that a company conveys to its customers. An effective brand strategy takes all of these elements into account and translates them into a coherent and consistent marketing approach. Here are some tips for creating an effective brand strategy:

1. Define your target audience. Who are you trying to reach? What are their needs and wants? Understanding your target audience is essential for crafting a relevant and persuasive brand message.

2. Create a unique selling proposition. What makes your company different from the competition? Why should customers choose you over someone else? Answering these questions will help you to create a powerful brand identity that stands out from the crowd.

3. Develop a consistent visual identity. Your logo, website, and marketing materials should all use the same colors, fonts, and style to create a cohesive look and feel. This will help customers instantly recognize your brand and associate it with positive associations.

4. Keep your messages clear and concise. Don’t try to say too much at once – focus on one key message per campaign or piece of collateral. This will make it easier for audiences to remember your brand and what it stands for.

5. Be true to your values. Your brand strategy should be an extension of your company’s values – if you’re not living up to them, customers will quickly see through you. Be authentic in everything you do, and make sure that your actions always align with your stated values.

Why logo design is so important

A logo is more than just a symbol. It’s an essential part of your brand identity. A well-designed logo can help your business to stand out from the competition and make a lasting impression on potential customers. It can also communicate what your business is all about, conveying your values and giving people an idea of what they can expect from your products or services. In short, a good logo is essential for any business that wants to build a strong and professional brand identity. So, if you’re thinking of starting a business, or if you’re in the process of rebranding, make sure you give logo design the attention it deserves. Invest in a professional designer, and take the time to ensure that your logo perfectly represents your business. Your logo will be with you for a long time, so it’s worth getting it right.

The post Why Web Design & Branding Is So Important For Your Business first appeared on DFW Website Designers - 817.247.6003.

Responsive web design is a type of website design that involves aligning the website to the behaviours and environment of the user to deliver a superior user experience. In other words, when you opt for a responsive web design, there is a single website that adjusts itself depending on the device on which it is viewed. It cuts down the need for desktop and mobile versions of a website.

While there are plenty of ways to leverage web design services for designing your website, responsive design is the latest trend, especially in the e-commerce space. Website design companies recommend businesses use a responsive website to attract more traffic and quality leads. Creative agencies across the board believe that the website plays a critical role in driving the right kind of audience, and the more adapted the website is to the user’s need, the better the outcome.

Here are the key benefits of choosing a responsive web design for your e-commerce website.

1- It boosts the SEO performance of your website

Staying right on top of search results requires your SEO to be impeccable. Branding agencies believe that using a responsive web design can give a boost to your SEO, thanks to the design flexibility provided. For instance, there is only a single URL for your website, regardless of the type of device it is viewed on.

A single URL makes it easy for Google to index your website, which is a crucial part of SEO ranking. You can also avoid creating duplicate content that often impacts your ranking adversely. Moreover, it makes it easier for your audience to share the content with others. Once users keep coming back to your website, the search engine algorithm automatically takes notes and pushes your ranking.

Responsive websites also have lower bounce rates which have a direct impact on your SEO. Bounce rate is a measure of how quickly visitors exit your website, and keeping it on the lower end is desirable. Repeatedly noticing high bounce rates on a website can signal the search engine your website isn’t trustworthy or helpful, resulting in a lower rank. Having a responsive design provides a better experience by adapting to the requirements of the user. This maximizes the user experience and brings down your bounce rate, which improves your SEO.

2 – Maintenance is fuss-free

Launching a website is the tip of the iceberg. One needs to maintain it to ensure that there are no bugs or errors impacting the user experience. With adaptive web design, you need to ensure that both versions of the website are in top shape. On the other hand, since a responsive web design only has a single website, you don’t need to spend double the resources and time. Not only is it beneficial for your bottom line, but it also helps you to carry out updates to the website in a seamless manner.

In most cases, the interface for web admin is extremely flexible, with no learning curve. Business owners without knowledge of coding or HTML can access it whenever they want and view it on whichever device they want to. In fact, the time you save can be invested towards other functions of your business that needs your attention.

3 – You can easily capture the traffic from mobile users

With the advent of mobile devices, browsing on the go is what the majority of your target audience prefers doing. And if you have an e-commerce website, the chances of mobile browsing are even higher. Whether your audience is waiting at a supermarket checkout counter or commuting to work, there is always an opportunity to use a smartphone and check out what your store has to offer.

If your website doesn’t adapt to the mobile screen size, the audience will not enjoy browsing through it. Imagine if your e-commerce website sells bags, and the photos of your products appear stretched out as your website cannot adapt to a mobile screen — doesn’t exactly sound like the ideal way to approach your target audience. In contrast, with a responsive website, you never have to worry about grabbing more eyeballs as everything is customized to adapt to the device your audience is using.

4 – Improves the reputation of your brand

Having solid goodwill in the market is a non-negotiable in today’s market. There are thousands of businesses waiting for a chance to grab the audience’s attention. So if you have a fragmented website that doesn’t offer a fluid viewing and browsing experience, you are likely to lose your customer to your competition.

Moreover, digitally savvy customers expect websites to be of a certain quality, whether they are browsing on their phones or on their desktops. If you are able to meet their expectations, you can get a customer for life. If not, the reputation of your business can take a hit.

To put it simply, a small change in your website can deliver a huge payoff and get your customers to talk about your business in the manner you would want them to. For someone who is visiting your website for the first time, a responsive site can create a more impactful impression compared to a regular web design. If you can satisfy them from the get-go, the chances of them coming back increase, as do the chances of finding new customers through word-of-mouth marketing.

5 – Your conversion rate can be through the roof

Conversion rate is the metric every e-commerce business owner is chasing. The higher your conversion rate, the better you are at attracting meaningful traffic that transacts with your business.

A responsive web design can go a long way in helping you achieve your dream numbers. If the visitors are satisfied with the viewing experience on their devices, they are likely to come back for a repeat purchase. Such a web design can also help you to provide a seamless checkout experience, which is critical for lowering abandoned cart rates.

6 – It can keep your costs in check

Regulating the cash outflow of an e-commerce business is on top of every owner’s checklist. While skimping on essential spending is never recommended, it doesn’t hurt to save a penny where it is possible without damaging your brand value.

Even though the initial investment in creating a responsive website is on the higher side, there are no recurring costs as you only need to invest in one version. When you contrast it with multiple versions required for different screens such as desktop, mobile, tablet/iPad, etc., it works out to be more economical.

Having A Responsive Web Design is Exactly What Your e-Commerce Business Needs

Providing the best user experience is key to winning customers right off the bat. If you make it effortless for the audience to browse through your website, you can create an excellent impression and keep them coming for more.

With the ubiquity of digital marketing in 2022, marketing professionals may feel like their content is a single grain of sand at the beach. And while it is true that there is a lot of competition for customer eyes out there, it isn’t as hard to rise above the muck as you might think. To help optimize your digital marketing efforts, keep reading for 5 digital marketing optimization tips that will directly impact your profits.

1. Provide an Elite Website Experience

Watch any streaming video or visit any website and you are likely to see an advertisement for careers in UX design. It is one of the fastest growing professions in the world, and for good reason. In the age of ecommerce, your website’s UX can be the difference between securing a profitable, lifelong client or having a visitor leave your page in a matter of seconds, never to be thought of again.

Even with the UX explosion, businesses are still scrambling and struggling to optimize their UX. While creating a professional, aesthetically pleasing website is important, it is only part of the equation. Some other factors include:

Page loading time – slow loading pages irk online shoppers and are one of the greatest contributors to an elevated bounce rate

Customer service – while many people like shopping on websites so that they can browse at their own leisure, other customers have dire questions that need immediate responses. Having easily accessible customer service channels is critical to ensuring customer satisfaction

Simple home pages – less is usually more when designing a homepage. Visitors should be able to instantly land on your page, process the information, and determine your brand and value proposition. Use images, fonts, logos, and catchphrases in place of ponderous text passages

While there is no shortage of web building platforms on the market today, the reality is that most people don’t have the skills to design a premium site that creates a UX that will stand out. Therefore, partnering with a professional web design company is likely to be one of the most profitable investments your business can make.

2. Carefully Manage Digital Assets

Although digital marketing has made marketing easier and more affordable in many respects, it has also taken some of the control away from businesses. With a wider pool of resellers, remote employees, and affiliates, marketing messages can become a bit muddled, and brands can become watered down.

To help avoid this pitfall, it is worthwhile to invest in a digital marketing asset management tool for your business. A DAM program can help your business create a unified marketing message and compile all marketing content in a convenient location, making it accessible to all sales reps and other parties who are spreading the word about your company.

3. Regularly Post Professional Content

Long form content is one of the best ways to boost SEO for a business. By carefully choosing the correct keywords, ascertaining trending queries in your business niche, and crafting professional content to fill the need for answers, businesses can boost the number of organic visitors that arrive at their website. No question is too small or insignificant to be answered online. The more helpful answers that you provide, the more you become viewed as an authority in your field, which will result in more views, shares, and recommendations—all of which further boost SEO.

And don’t limit your regular posting to blog and vlog content. Many businesses know that social media is critical to business success in 2022 and create accounts with all of the trending platforms. However, they aren’t able to stay consistent with their posting, and their audience never grows. Consistent, quality posting is the key to social media success. Just like any other item on your daily or weekly business to-do list, be sure to fill your social media accounts with top-notch media, trending keywords, and relevant text captions.

4. Join the Online Conversation

Posting to your own website, blog, or social media account isn’t the only way to get your voice recognized as an authority online. Be sure to check relevant blogs, forums, and social media accounts in your industry and add your two cents.

While filling up competitors’ comments with spammy or salesy links is probably a great way to get blocked, if you can offer thoughtful insight to online discussions in your niche, you can get your business in front of a new set of eyes. One particularly interesting concept is to explore the realm of broken link building. Peruse online content in your field and see if any of the links in the content direct the visitor back to a dead, expired, or blocked page. If so, contact the site administrator and let them know that your business would be a great option to update the broken link. This can allow existing traffic to click through and land on your site, growing traffic and boosting SEO.

5. Don’t Neglect Email Marketing

Many email marketing campaigns fail due to poor execution. They send out mass emails that have little to no chance of getting opened, get marked as spam, and all subsequent messages trigger the recipient’s inbox filter.

However, when properly executed, no digital marketing medium can match email’s 3600% return on investment. Keep your email campaigns focused on clients who have voluntarily furnished their information to your business. Send them messages on their birthdays on other special occasions. Make your email content professional and full of meaningful offers. When you do this, the fruits of email marketing will be realized.

Use These 5 Digital Marketing Tips and Watch Profits Soar

There is no doubt that digital marketing is a competitive field in 2022. However, with the proper planning and execution, it is more than possible to separate yourself from the crowd. Providing an elite UX, carefully managing digital assets, regularly posting authoritative content, joining the online conversation, and refocusing your email campaigns are 5 helpful tips that can optimize your digital marketing efforts and increase profits online.

The post 5 Digital Marketing Optimization Tips For Businesses first appeared on DFW Website Designers - 817.247.6003.

So let’s take a closer look at former Secretary of State’s website. She is using a pop-up to get you to agree with her before entering her site. She wants you to say ‘yes’ to a relatively easy question, before she hits you with a harder one. “Will you donate to my campaign?” Her designer even goes as far as moving the exit/close button from the top right to the top left. Again very sneaking, subtle or dare I say… leftist?

Are Pop-Ups Worth Doing?

The answer is depends. On my personal blog, Daddy Got Custody, I added Feedburner with a 30 second delay pop-up, for all first time visitors. After a year, I did add a bunch of subscribers, but my overall traffic went down. The following year (2015), I remove the pop-up and the traffic when up and new subscribers went down dramatically. Note: I currently DON’T have a pop-up. So it may be worth it, depending on your objective.

Do Pop-ups Work?

According to Jay Baer’s Digital Marketing article, Pop Up Ads: Necessary Evil, or Just Evil? they are 49% more effective than banner ads, or pretty much any other form of website marketing. Companies like Orbitz built their entire brands from pop-ups. So if you decide to add pop-ups to your site, here are a few of my tips.

5 Elements to Consider When Using Pop-Ups

1) Have One and Only One Per-Visit. Most WordPress Pop-Up plugins will cookie the user and be as in frequent as few as 30 to 180 days, as to not annoy repeat visitors. I think 30 day cookie is a must. My opinion anyway.

2) Have a Logical and Simple Way to Close the Ad. Make it simple and do allow a close button. Nothing is more annoying than an ad you have to wait to close or can’t close.

3) Keep It Simple Stupid. Grab an email, give a simple message, but don’t make the pop-up complicated or long.

4) Keep It On Message and Logical for the User. I am not a fan of a global pop-up on every single page. Make it work with a specific page or post topic.

[tweet “Before using a website pop-up, realize your audience hates them.”]

5) Realize Your Audience Hates Them. Apologize and be mindful how offensive pop-ups really are. You can get away with murder (online) if you are really nice and apologetic in the process.

Pop-up work, they are offensive. Some would argue a necessary evil for a certain purposes or causes. Hillary needs them to raise money, future President Trump doesn’t. She has them, he doesn’t. Trump doesn’t want to offend anybody on his website. He would prefer to do that in person. But that…is another story. hehe

Perhaps you have even started blogging. How do you know your website is effective? How do you know traffic is increasing and the new site is being effective?

Many businesses work with their web developers for engaging online marketing, social media and SEO campaigns. Campaigns are good, but how do you measure success? How do you even study improvements?

Launching Google Analysis – Google Analyticator

1. Install and Activate Google Analyticator. In order to judge and monitor how well your website or blog is receiving traffic, it is necessary to have a tool that will track and give reports on your visitors. One of my favorite WordPress plugin does accomplish this goal. Install Google Analyticator into your WordPress dashboard.

2. Setup Your Google Analytics Account. I could take the time to explain this further, but there are two very good articles, one by Carrie Hill, How To: Google Analytics Installation for Novices & Beginners and Kristi Hines, The Absolute Beginner’s Guide to Google Analytics, that do this for me. Follow their instructions till you get the your tracking code/ID.

3. Add Your Google Tracking Code/ID into Analyticator. For this, I direct you to Drew Doggett’s YouTube video. See below. (Click here if you don’t see a video below.)

4. Study Your Visits, Pageviews, Bounce Rate & New Visits. Once Google Analyticator is active, you will start to view your Google Analytics Summary report directly inside the WordPress Dashboard. I would toggle between the 30 and 60 days drop downs. In general, you want to see Visits, Pageviews, Average Time on Site, and Pages/Visit trending up.

I track mine and type them into a spreadsheet. I don’t worry so much about any individual highs or lows, but review to see the trend in general is going up.

You should strive for a low “Bounce Rate.” As that tells you what percentage of visitors only look or read one page or article, before leaving. Some themes lend themselves to better bounce rates over others. On my Daddy Got Custody blog, realizing it is a custody reference site, I know most folks find what they want and leave, so I am not concerned the bounce rate is high. However, on this website designer site, I want a low bounce rate so that I see people click further for pricing and more details.

5. Study Your Top Pages, Top Referrers, and Top Searches.
Finally, look at your “Top Pages.” On my blog, I realized that an article about building a 4th grade Alamo was pulling better than the rest. Are your article generating interest? Are they being found in Google Searches? Over time you will find “Top Searches” give you some clues on to where and what people are typing to find your site. “Top Referrers,” show where other sites are bringing you traffic.

This information doesn’t give you a complete picture, but like a doctor, it does give you a check up and insight on the SEO of your website or campaign. Hopefully this data help you discover the ROI of your online marketing.
